Yep, they're cool. Hidden speakers inside walls or tucked into cabinets may get a higher ascetic

score, but they won't sound as good as freestanding ones. That's why the really great home

theaters you see in photos have them out there -- bold and beautiful.

Sound waves bouncing off walls will interfere with those coming from the speakers. To

minimize this, hang sound-absorbing panels or objects off the first reflecting point--usually the

side wall midway between the speaker and you.

BTW: You'll want an amp that puts out at least 100 watts per channel, so be sure to buy speakers that can handle it.

Also, avoid this mistake: DON'T place the subwoofer in a corner Place it at the CENTER of the wall; this way the bass won't swamp the music.

The left, right, and center channels deliver a film's music and dialogue. So although you don't necessarily NEED rear speakers, without them you'll miss the cool 'bullets whizzing by your head' experience.

And finally, make sure all speakers come from the same product line; sounds can change between brands.
